The Wayne-Dalton USB to Z-Wave™ Adapter, Model# WDUSB-10R is the easiest way to create and manage your Home Control Network of up to 232 modules. It features a built-in clock with astronomical features to determine sunset and sunrise to create custom scheduled events that trigger your Z-Wave™ scenes.

To control your home remotely, simply plug the USB to Z-Wave™ Adapter into your PC USB port, and install the award winning ThinkEssentials® Software. From there, you can join a PC remote connection service such as www.logmein.com to manage your home control system from anywhere in the world!

Features:
  • Z-Wave™ Enabled
  • Create Custom Scheduled Scenes and Events
  • Perform Remote Monitoring
  • ThinkEssentials® Software
  • Compatible with Windows XP or Windows Vista Operating Systems

The kit comes with a handy USB “stick” which plugs directly into any USB port and is compatible with computers that run Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems. The stick uses standard HID drivers so any computer immediately recognizes the USB Z-Wave as new hardware.

The kit also ships with a CD containing ThinkEssentials® software.  ThinkEssentials® allows users to create a simplified floor plan of their home.  From that users can add home control modules which are represented by individual icons in the floor plan. Users can then control light switches, appliances, electronics, thermostats and other Z-Wave enabled devices from their computers or through the Internet.

The intuitive software also allows the creation of custom timed events based on day of the week, time, sunrise and sunset. So setting scenes such as “turn on security lights at sunset” is a snap.

“Our USB to Z-Wave interface takes home controls to the next level by providing a very simple and friendly user interface,” said Yan Rodriguez, Director of Home Access and Controls at Wayne-Dalton.  “For us, ease of use is critical to obtain wide consumer acceptance of Home Controls.”

Control While You Travel
Have you ever been traveling and suddenly wondered if you remembered to turn off the coffee maker? Or set the lights to emulate your normal activity, so it looks like you're home? Now, if you can connect to the Internet, you can monitor your home and make necessary changes. The USB Stick makes it simple to set up a Z-Wave system and implement changes.

Set up your Z-Wave® enabled home
Draw a basic floorplan of your home with ease. Then, if you have a notebook computer, simply click on the "Add Device" button, walk over to the Z-Wave device you want to add, and then press its button. Its icon will immediately show up on-screen. You can add more any time. If you are using a desktop PC, set up your network of Z-Wave devices with a Z-Wave remote control--and then add your computer just like any other device. It's really that simple!
Control and configure your devices
Once you have added devices to your network, simply click on one to turn it on and off. For advanced options, just hold the mouse down for a second. You can dim lights, remove broken devices from the system, and much more. Some Z-Wave devices have enhanced features, like the ability to adjust their default dimming rates. ThinkEssentials gives you full control over all the basic settings--and many not-so-basic ones.

Create and activate mood lighting (and scenes)
Set up a lighting scene for your home theatre--to dim the lights when you start a movie. Or create mood lighting for those romantic evenings when you want to stay home. Scenes are a combination of mood lighting and recorded levels and settings in other Z-Wave devices. As an example, you could create a movie scene that closes the curtains, dims the lights, and turns off the air conditioner. The possibilities are limitless.

Put your home on a schedule
Rather than wasting energy leaving exterior lights on all night long, simply schedule groups of devices to turn on or off at various times of the day, on one or more days of the week. A smart, built-in astronomic clock keeps track of the changing sunrise and sunset times, so you can just set it up and forget about it. Plus, you can put your computer to sleep and ThinkEssentials will wake it up when it's time to activate a scheduled event. Smart!
Z-Wave USB Stick
Control your Z-Wave-enabled devices using your PC. If you have home control software installed on your computer to schedule lights and appliances to turn on and off automatically at specific times of the day or at sunset, you can add this control to switches and modules enabled with Z-Wave technology. The Z-Wave Adapter plugs into an available USB port on your PC to deliver your commands to Z-Wave devices via RF technology. There's a USB extension cable included, which can be used to locate the Z-Wave adapter for the best RF reception.
