Essential Info Use the I/O Linc - INSTEON LED and Light Detector Probe Kit to activate a scene in your home theater that will turn on (or off) INSTEON controlled lights and/or appliances when an LED or other light source has been sensed. This kit enhances your INSTEON network by using a Light Detector Probe to sense when an LED, incandescent or fluorescent light is turned on. The probe can be placed over an LED power indicator on an A/V component or other electronic device. Alternatively the probe can be placed near an incandescent or fluorescent light source. When an LED or alternative light source is detected, an INSTEON signal will be sent to set the ambiance in the room by lowering lighting levels, turning on a ceiling fan and/or activating your HVAC system. This kit can also be use in an area where too much light may be annoying or damaging such as a home theatre room, photo development room, green house or wine cellar so that the appropriate INSTEON responding device could be activated to notify you or prevent damage.
How it Works Attach the sensor from the LED and Light Detector Probe to an A/V or electronic component, or near an area where you want to detect an LED, incandescent or fluorescent light. Connect the 1/8" plug from the LED and Light Detector Probe into the 1/8" mini jack input on the bottom of I/O Linc. Plug the I/O Linc into an available non-switched power outlet then follow the proper procedure to link I/O Linc with other INSTEON controlled devices. Once light has been sensed, I/O Linc will receive notification from the LED and Light Detector Probe and trigger the linked INSTEON devices to turn on or off (depending on the state you linked them in).
Please Note: The LED and Light Detector Probe will only trigger I/O Linc to turn a linked INSTEON device on or off when an LED, incandescent or fluorescent light is turned on; no action will take place when a light is turned off.
